Bowerman’s beginnings highlight the essence of the mantra ‘from little things big things grow’. In 1946, Bowermans was a small store selling second-hand furniture. Since then, it has become a leading, go-to furniture supplier. As part of a broader design-led collective, Bowermans’ addition allowed the group to specify a holistic office solution, covering workstations and boardrooms in addition to polished front-of-house zones.

In workplaces, over the decades, barriers came down, corner offices coalesced with open-plan settings and versatile, home-like environments became key to employee comfort. Keeping ahead of the game, as the hospitality and commercial sectors became increasingly ambitious, Bowermans diversified its design-led offering. “The hospitality landscape has become more elevated. People also want a workplace to be multiple things: a hotel, home, flexible collaboration environment. Furniture and fittings are part of that elevation,” Williams says. While maintaining a strong cohort of Australian manufacturers, Bowermans’ has responded to this call for bold design by introducing European brands into the mix, balancing Bowermans’ renowned durability with design accents.
